Pretty is pink! When you think of a woman being in pink, it’s pretty. When you think of getting a pink eye, not so pretty. When you think of P!nk, you’d wonder so what? You’re still a rock star with your rock moves. When you think Pink Floyd, it’d better be the greatest gig in the sky. When you think pink is for girly girls, it’s a sexist myth for supposed gender distinction and stereotypes.
But when you start to think think pink, being pretty in pink, it’s not so much of a gendered colour. Pink does not enforce you to a role, but what you make of it. When you think pink, there’s no code. Pink is not just dainty, pink is fierce, pink is powerful. Pink is anything and everything you make of it. Think pink again.
Thinking in pink, our latest series, ‘Pretty in Pink’ is a nod to Psychedelic Furs’ ode to the ’86 film starring Andie Walsh as Molly Ringwald, that all pretty is pink when you think pink- a color widely associated to gender roles and women as girly girls wearing it. Retiring the archaic, when we think pink, it’s for everyone. Pink is for the common man, pink is however you wish to express yourself. Pink is everything but girly. Everyone can be pretty in pink when you think pink.
